About Silverline Kennels
My name is Sherry and I have been an animal lover since I started to walk. I loved all creatures from snails to horses but the animal I have always loved the most are dogs. I did not come from a home that loved animals, my mom was tolerant but my dad was not a fan of dogs, he preferred his fish and birds. So my first pets were some hamsters, a turtle and a cat named fluffy.
Because I wasn’t allowed to have a dog, I remember as a four year old taking a stuffed animal tied with a collar and leash around to my neighbours homes and introducing it to them as my new dog. I was dog crazy from the moment I knew what a dog was and you could often find me as a young child spending time with my friends and neighbours dogs and becoming friends with any dog that I met on the street.
As I grew older, my love for animals and dogs never wavered, I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up and I took every opportunity that I could to volunteer with my local vet clinics. I was fortunate to assist with spays, neuters, blood transfusions, c-sections, wound care, vaccinations and xrays. Unfortunately, school took me in the direction of finance instead of veterinary medicine but that did not stop me from getting involved with animals.

As time marched on, I started showing and breeding Russell Terriers and completed Champion and Grand Champion titles on my dogs in CKC, UKC and AKC.

During my time showing my Russell Terriers, I fell absolutely in love with the Havanese Breed. And here we are today.

Although no longer breeding and showing the Russell Terrier, I still retain my beloved Clare that I raised from a baby. She has never had pups but she enjoyed showing and will now move on to other dog sports such as barn hunt.
Leela, Jimi & Nessa are my first Havanese dogs and I am absolutely smitten with them. This breed is gentle, kind, loving and smart. I have done extensive research on the breed and have connected with other respected Havanese breeders to learn everything that I can about the breed so that I can pass this knowledge on to others.

I look forward to meeting people interested in the Havanese breed and to providing quality puppies for families for many years to come.
Join me in my journey through social media and through my website where I invite you to see what’s new on my little hobby farm located in Southwestern Ontario where you may be introduced to my small flock of sheep, my barn cats and my frequent wildlife visitors.
I thank you so very much for exploring my site and for getting to know me and my dogs.

Sincerely,
Sherry Leitch

In my late teens and early twenties, I volunteered at my local animal shelter and helped with cleaning and animal care and eventually to organizing volunteers and helping with fund-raising. In my late 20s to late 30s, I completed dog training instructor courses and dog grooming courses and then opened up my own business called Pawz-Abilities where I did dog training, dog daycare, dog grooming and pet sitting services. My rottweiler shepherd mix Piper completed 3 levels of obedience, did agility and learned scent detection.
